TRILOK PRATAP’S FATHER’S QUESTION: IF MY SON WASN’T KILLED, WHERE IS HE?

After the temporary bench of the High Court Janakpur in Birgunj said there was no proof that the victims were burned alive, people started asking what really happened to them. Shri Narayan Singh, the 84-year-old father of Trilok Pratap, asked, “If no one burned them in a brick kiln after putting them in sacks, then where is my son Trilok Pratap?”

He didn’t accept the High Court’s decision and demanded answers. “If the court can’t confirm my son was killed, then the government must find him,” he said.

Even at 84, he promised to keep fighting for justice. “What more proof do you need? Where is my son? The government must find out. Whether he’s alive or dead, they must tell us. We are just ordinary people,” he added.

Trilok was 22 when he died. He was Shri Narayan’s youngest son and studied Political Science at Goenka College in Sitamarhi, India. Shri Narayan, a strong supporter of the Nepali Congress, had sent his son to help with an election campaign at the request of Mohammad Aftab Alam.

While still in college, Trilok worked hard on the campaign—writing speeches and handling publicity. “I was born in a country where politicians think they are above the law,” his father said. “A judge should stand for justice.”
