ROYALIST GROUP ANNOUNCED TO SHUTDOWN VALLEY

A royalist group has announced a shutdown in the Kathmandu Valley on Monday, after the arrest of RPP Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa and RPP Member of Parliament Deepak Singh.

The Joint People’s Movement Committee, led by Nawaraj Subedi, released a statement on Sunday, saying that the police arrested Thapa, Singh, and others in a harsh and unfair way during a peaceful protest.

The committee has demanded that the government immediately release everyone who was arrested.

They also said the protest movement will now take a different form, and they have called for a Valley-wide shutdown on Monday (Jestha 19).

In the statement, Subedi asked supporters to actively participate in the protest by gathering in their own neighborhoods and local squares.

Leaders and activists of the RPP Nepal, including Chairman Thapa, were arrested after a royalist group protested from the Narayan Chaur area of the capital on Sunday and tried to enter Baluwatar.
