The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release of journalist Dilbhushan Pathak on bail of Rs 25,000. Sources disclose that he is preparing to take bail today by paying bail amount.
District Government Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu, was filed a case against Pathak, seeking punishment under Section 47 (1) of the Electronic Transactions Act 2063 BS, fine of one lakh rupees or five years imprisonment, or both for publishing illegal false materials in electronic means.
Earlier on Jestha 28, arrest warrant issued againt Pathak, for publishing video showing Jaybir, son of Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, about to purchase Hilton Hotel. The Cyber Bureau had obtained the arrest warrant from the court after Jaybir filed a complaint claiming that the video posted on YouTube was baseless.
However, Patan high court on Asar 5 give an interim order not arrest Pathak.
